Sartorial Savants

Its been a over two years since Mphela and I met at a fashion show in the East of Johannesburg (Ekurhuleni)...

We've become good friends ever since and have established a great working relationship.

Over the past two years hes been asking me to do a shoot at this field with an abandoned colossal shack which seems to be someones old home or maybe a a church (nobody really knows what went down in this shack0) and to be frank it's a very nice place to take your mind off things..
At the time the idea was proposed to me, I felt that the concept was colossal and i needed to empower myself so  i could use it to my best ability..

well if you a perfectionist like myself you'd understand that prior, preparation and patience is the mother of all best results...

we began working around the concept in December 2012...
simple and straight to the point, we needed a look that'll embrace the atmosphere and we like what we did!

Africa has great locations to offer and this is one of them

African street style is what we stand for:
Style is on point ; Grand Father shoes, Blazers from Johannesburg Markets, Garfield ties and brown shorts Sartorial Savants of our regime.

This is only the beginning.
Thank you for your eyes.

Uncle Cool Cat

Uncle Cool Kat music video.
Gives us a glimpse of Soweto lifestyle...
Car drifting is a sensation all around south Africa and if it happens you have a BMW 325, spin that thing...

No formalities but a communal lifestyle is highly highlighted in this music video...

Uncle Cool Cat

Choc (Cream Cartel)

 Images from music video (siyasebenza)
South Africa's rising Phenomenal Hip Hop/Rap artist Uncle Cool Kat!
Been listening to the song all weekend.
I must comment on his style of music, very different to commercial hip hop sound. A bit of traditional African beat and tempo.

To me this is the dynamic hip hop artist SA has been waiting. He never conformed to the standards set by others instead, went for something way different and got us dancing!!

Local hip hop boy with a taste for style. Laid back hip hop culture look. Baseball sweaters, cool cap with a touch of leopard print, baggy jeans and vintage Loyd shades.
Great media exposure coverage will certainly influence some kid out there passionate about hip hop and making a name for themselves.

Can't wait to hear his full offering!!!

Taj MaHal

Taj MaHal reflection on water...

I am fully moved by travelling these days, hence I'm reaching out to a couple of  destinations later this year in the beautiful sub-countries of Africa...

Through the scurvy essence of poverty lies laughter and indigenous beauty!
As usual I always have something to say about fashion "on the streets"
from an aloof perspective "Suraj" is wearing high waist pants, most beautiful design that came from the 1920's followed by double breast jackets... and over the years fashion has been changing swiftly.
I cut and trim all my high waist pants to fitted slim silhouette to suit a more contemporary look.

The aesthetics of this image evoke feelings of travelling and clear mind!

Sam and Shaka

Sam Lamberet - Designer of Ozwalt Boateng!

Shaka Maidor- www.artcomesfirst.com

I've always been wanting to know who these guys are. I have rebloged about them a couple of times
Lately my research has been doing it self , unasked questions answer themselves.
me being in Cape Town has actually opened my mind to a lot of I've been thinking about..
I like these guys style and vibe they've created around the globe.
A friend of mine worked of with Sam last year on African fashion week for Ozwalt Boateng's show, one of the leading designer on men's bespoke fashion...
I've got a dream and it has to come to pass.

I am a lover of men's fashion and I really find it hard to do women fashion, though there's little to do with men silohoutte, however there's something subliminal working on my mind! Blame it on these guys

What was Africa

Photography by Shibia Huizer (London)
Oh! How I love these pictures....
In my life as a fashinista, stylist and former fashion design student, I have seen but a few fashionitas playing around with color and loads of layering!
Most of us designers and fashinistas play it safe when it comes to our everyday look, we avoid loads of layering whatsoever, but I must say though that less is more.
I admire this girl, in both looks she was able to pull them very beautifully!
I love her use and choice of accessories, color combinations: shirts, skirts, yellow and orange socks and the Nike sneakers!
I believe this is a beautiful reflection of "what was Africa" in a contemporary way

The African style is =  color and loads of layers; I am talking of your accessories, dresses, skirts and tops!

Jamakazi Pearl Chwayita:
stylist designer and founder of the most amazing vintage boutique in Johannesburg "Fruit Cake"
Jama is a True reflection of "What was Africa"
I love her style to bits; a good combination of Vintage Out of Africa.
This is a beautiful image.. I love the aesthetics of both the image and the style presented!
If I was a girl, I think I'd be looking more like her...
beautiful purple dress, and beautiful yellow accessories with a dash of green

king of fashion (kings rule together)

                                                             Food for the eye!!!!http://kingsruletogether.com

women heels adn etc.

I've realised that the older your shoes get the more sentimental value they get...
nothing ever beats the vintage dotted brown shoes. People who have a pair will agree with.
If haven't got the memo yet, visit second hand (vintage clothing) stores,
who knows you might find yourself a good pair of piere cardin or etc...
                                                                      too cool..

vintage hip hop street fashion

I am not a big hip hop fan but looking back from where it comes from in terms of aesthetics and the music...Really hip hop has grown from street style to a world global trendsetter...
the likes of kanye west have created a good combination of the hip hop fashion, doing it old school with a great influence of contemporary fashion from fashion ramps across the globe.
now that is evolution!
No discrimination! hip hop is cool...
