Taj MaHal

Taj MaHal reflection on water...

I am fully moved by travelling these days, hence I'm reaching out to a couple of  destinations later this year in the beautiful sub-countries of Africa...

Through the scurvy essence of poverty lies laughter and indigenous beauty!
As usual I always have something to say about fashion "on the streets"
from an aloof perspective "Suraj" is wearing high waist pants, most beautiful design that came from the 1920's followed by double breast jackets... and over the years fashion has been changing swiftly.
I cut and trim all my high waist pants to fitted slim silhouette to suit a more contemporary look.

The aesthetics of this image evoke feelings of travelling and clear mind!

visvim Areni Folk (Green Fashion)

Oh my! tell me how nice these shoes are?
I already have an outfit for these...

"An interesting new shoe has released this week from the visvim Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. The Areni Folk comes with a full Italian vegetable tanned leather upper, Buffalo heel hide cup support, natural cork foot bed and of course the necessary Vibram outer sole. Three colors of the shoe are coming to stores this week."

I certainly believe that this is a pair for the brave. Some would argue when I say these are amazing.
Well, considering the fact that they are made with natural material, I couldn't ask for more.
Climate change is having a serious impact on Africa and many parts of the world!
The use of natural and global friendly material is being emphasized, thus this is a good example of Fashion going "Green"

Masego Maps Maponyane

It's been a while since I posted anything on the blog... been getting my things sorted out!
Been to Cape Town for a couple of weeks, had a blast!
#style vibes

Masego Maponyane Student, actor, model, , TV presenter, entrepreneur and etc..
second palace in GQ's top ten best dressed South Africa 2011 at the age of 21 (youngest nominee on GQ ever)!

I never got to do an opportunity to interview him but what I can deduce about Maps is that he is a friendly, humble, ambitious and stylish Gentlemen. Confident and knows how to dress for his body
So humble you'll never say that he is a son of a legend.

Maps says on City press interview

"I have already made plans to start a sports marketing consultancy, and clothing and personal styling companies. It’s a good way to combine all the things I’m most passionate about"

at the moment he's featured on this month's issue of GQ style south Africa

Shoes

I Love This shoe and can you believe  I only got it for R60/$6...

Now this is something you don't get to see on the streets... I'm one lucky young man, came across these in town and I never hesitated!! R320/$32

This is where I keep all of my valuable items... I respect my shoes!!

My beautiful Buck... you gotta love this american beauty!
I recommend this to every guy out there..
I buy most of my shoes at second hand stores or markets! If you want quality, style, class and all that take a tour to a market or second hand store on our neighbourhood.

I love my shoes... they define who I am, as much as what I wear them with!
This is what I do before I get dressed. I choose my shoe first and then the rest will follow!!!
The shoe you wear can compliment or kill your out fit! so cautious when picking shoes!

when you go shopping always wear the shoe you most likely to wear with the item you want. eg. when buying a pair of jeans wear the shoe you going to be wearing it with!
(people don't take this shopping tip seriously, hence they struggle to get dressed)

I hope you jotted this down, and good luck!!!

SA Fashion Week

Photographer: Stephanie O'Connor

These are some of my favorite from the House of Ole men's collection [men;'s fitting].
What an honor to have worked along side with a great man and a yes a mover and shaker in the fashion industry. I don't have inadequate words that can explain the way I feel.
About the collection.
very relaxed, an everyday wear for a guy stylish man.
I really love the Black and white pants with patterns all around and yeah the first look... ( art novae jackets and pattern pants) a must have.
I love the tailoring [attention to detail] in each and every garment in the collection..
*loose fitting pants in mustard are to die for
*very nice red wine slim fit suit with no sleeves... a perfect outfit for a Black tie event (yes I said)

Very beautiful collection by Ole

House of Ole women wear...
Ole just launch his women range, I think it was long overdue.
What a beautiful collection, read a couple of tweets and most people been saying that the women collection was far better than the men collection..
Indeed patience is a virtue...
I'll soon post the pictures from the ramp
too cool...

What was Africa

Photography by Shibia Huizer (London)
Oh! How I love these pictures....
In my life as a fashinista, stylist and former fashion design student, I have seen but a few fashionitas playing around with color and loads of layering!
Most of us designers and fashinistas play it safe when it comes to our everyday look, we avoid loads of layering whatsoever, but I must say though that less is more.
I admire this girl, in both looks she was able to pull them very beautifully!
I love her use and choice of accessories, color combinations: shirts, skirts, yellow and orange socks and the Nike sneakers!
I believe this is a beautiful reflection of "what was Africa" in a contemporary way

The African style is =  color and loads of layers; I am talking of your accessories, dresses, skirts and tops!

Jamakazi Pearl Chwayita:
stylist designer and founder of the most amazing vintage boutique in Johannesburg "Fruit Cake"
Jama is a True reflection of "What was Africa"
I love her style to bits; a good combination of Vintage Out of Africa.
This is a beautiful image.. I love the aesthetics of both the image and the style presented!
If I was a girl, I think I'd be looking more like her...
beautiful purple dress, and beautiful yellow accessories with a dash of green

History of men's fashion

Autumn 1933
In the 1930s, bigger was better, with double-breasted suits, full-cut trousers, and tuxedos with tails setting the standard for how a gentleman should dress. Also: the dawn of shirtless sunbathing.

It began with the great Wall Street Crash of October 24, 1929. By 1931, eight million people were out of work in the United States. Less or no work meant little or no money to spend on clothing. The garment industry witnessed shrinking budgets, and going-out-of-business sales were prevalent.

During the early part of the decade, men’s suits were modified to create the image of a large torso. Shoulders were squared using wadding or shoulder pads and sleeves were tapered to the wrist. Peaked lapels framed the v-shaped chest and added additional breadth to the wide shoulders.
This period also say a rise in the popularity of the double-breasted suit, the precursor of the modern business suit. Masculine elegance demanded jackets with long, broad lapels, two, four, six or even eight buttons, square shoulders and vent less tails. Generous-cut, long trousers completed the look. These suits appeared in charcoal, steel or speckled gray, slate, navy and midnight blue.

Lovely dark fabrics were enhanced by herringbone and stippled vertical and diagonal stripes. In winter, brown cheviot was popular. In spring, accents of white, red or blue silk fibers were woven into soft wool. The striped suit became a standard element in a man’s wardrobe at this time. Single, double, chalk, wide and narrow stripes were all in demand.

Plaids of many various kinds became popular around this time as well. Glen plaid checks, originally known as Glen Urquhart checks from their Scottish origin, were one of the more stylish plaids. Glen plaid designs are sometimes referred to as “Prince of Wales” checks. Initially the design was woven in saxony wool and later was found in tweed, cheviot, plied and worsted cloth.

1934

 1935
The rebounding economy demanded a redesign of the business suit, to signal the successful status of the man who wore it.
Other versions of this new suit included four instead of six buttons, lapels sloping down to the bottom buttons, and a longer hem. This version was known as the Windsor double-breasted (D.B.) and the Kent double-breasted (D.B.), named after the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Kent respectively.

During this time, blazers became popular for summer wear. Blazers are descendants of the jackets worn by English university students on cricket, tennis and rowing teams during the late nineteenth century. The name may derive from the “blazing” colors the original jackets were made in, which distinguished the different sports teams. The American versions were popular in blue, bottle green, tobacco brown, cream and buff. Metallic buttons traditionally adorned the center front of the jackets, and they were worn with cotton or linen slacks and shorts.
1935

1939

July 1942
In the 1940s, war changes everything. The government restricts the use of wool, and single-breasted jackets and cuff- and pleat-free pants become the norm. Once the boys come home, big style roars back with wide lapels, spread collars, and roomy suits

                                                         October 1950
In the 1950s, conservatism and conformity rule, with trim tailoring and similar accessories (hat, pocket square, cigarette, and martini) for just about everyone. Downtime sees the occasional glimpses of flair (shantung jackets, madras prints, Hawaiian shirts).

From today I'll be educating about the history  of fashion, or rather the evolution of  Men's wear

winter street style

                                             Guerre

                                                                   Photographer.
Wearing: Ralph Lauren hat and trousers. Vintage hand-rolled scarf. Pocket square by Hermes. Harris Tweed jacket. Sweater by Banana Republic.
This image is taken from the GQ blog. What I love about most about this image is it's the whole aesthetics of it, from the quality of picture, frame size, and most importantly fashion...Talk about a good combination of color. Red and white scarf, and orange pocket square gives the image or rather the wearer a good finished outfit. The Ralph Lauren hat adds a timeless factor to the image. Vintage but yet so contemporary.

Take a guess! what type of shoes is Guerre wearing?
Post me your comment

I usually don't blog pictures of myself but if you wonder how I usually look like on a daily basis, wonder no more. I am tall, dark and handsome somebody. Vintage freak and I love slim fitting clothes.

I love this look to bits. Just like the previous one, the guys are wearing simple brown and yet so elegant.
everything matches, rather everything complements the other.
The amazing striped orange and brown socks draws your attention instantly, and beautifully matches with the Florsheim shoes and the belt his wearing.
I think I am gonna get myself a hat for this winter , though I don't have the head for it
too cool...

Cant wait any longer for this year's winter.
Been going through the internet, I'm inspired to look my best this winter.
men style tips for 2012 winter according to me:

*loafers (season less)
*boots

*a good pair of jeans and chinnos
*vintage college jerseys
*leather gloves
